Our kiwis are housed in an open and natural enclosure allowing you incredible viewing of Kiwis and Kiwi breeding. NO GLASS! Only Willowbank is open at night time which allows you to enjoy the habits of our nocturnal inhabitants just as nature intended. "Your Kiwi Viewing Guarantee" is our guarantee that all visitors will enjoy a kiwi experience.
For those of you, who are interested in our culture come in to experience the Ko Tane Maori Cultural Performance and New Zealand Wildlife Tour at night. This is performed complete with a 4 course hangi meal on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 5.30pm. Or join us under the sun, for an outstanding day of family activities, entertainment and education. Be entertained by the Challenge and Powhiri greeting in a pre- European village followed by an interactive Christchurch Maori cultural performance.
Willowbank has an award winning Christchurch Restaurant. An All Day Menu of New Zealand cuisine is served daily. Cafe and a children's menu is available during the day. The Natural New Zealand Area of the Reserve is lit and open until 7 pm with guided tours at 4.30pm. Kiwi are able to be viewed from 10.30am until closing.
Transport Options
No 107 bus (Metro from Northlands Mall)
The No 107 bus leaves from the Main North Road at Northlands Mall.
This travels up Veitches Road, Sawyers Arms Road to Gardiners Road
and then into Hussey Road where it stops 100 metres before Willowbank on
the way to the Supa Centre at Northwood. Monday to Friday buses are 30
minutes apart and on the weekends one hour apart. Arrival and departure
is 100 metres up the road from the exit gate of Willowbank.
To get to Northlands Mall catch the Blue Line from the centre city exchange. Alternatively catch the Blue Line to the Supa Centre on the Main North Road and catch the 107 on it's return.
A shuttle is available with any Ko Tane purchase. Ko Tane, the Maori Cultural Experience at Willowbank is at 5.30pm and can be combined with a guided kiwi tour through the Natural NZ Area . Shuttle picks up from most motels from 4pm. Bookings essential.

LEMUR ENCOUNTERS: 1:30pm on weekends and school holidays. The Lemur Encounter is approximately 20 minutes long and the lemurs will be fed their lunch. Children must be 8 years and over. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult (Maximum of 2:1) A maximum of 6 people on one encounter. Very popular with adults also! Bookings essential: 03 359 6226

JUNIOR KEEPER: School Holidays. Help the Park Warden with the day to day duties of looking after the animals. Learn about how to care for some of the most exotic and endangered species.
